Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong is considering admitting he took performance-enhancing drugs, newspaper reports claim.

 

The New York Times cited anonymous sources as saying Armstrong, who has been stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, was weighing a confession so he could return to competing in triathlons and running events.

 

The 41-year-old has been banned for life from cycling and is not permitted to enter any other events sanctioned by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) or the World Anti-Doping Agency.

 

The newspaper, citing "one person briefed on the situation," said Armstrong has been in discussions with USADA and met Travis Tygart, the agency's chief executive.

 

But attorney Tim Herman denied his client had reached out to either body and said he had no knowledge of a possible confession.

 

"When, and if, Lance has something to say, there won't be any secret about it," he said.
